APY

APY (Annual Percentage Yield) is the amount you earn on your assets in a year, including the effect of compounding—where your earnings also earn more over time. In DeFi, APY can change quickly depending on market conditions.

It’s different from APR (Annual Percentage Rate), which shows yearly returns without compounding.

Bin Value Locked (BVL)

BVL is a metric representing the total amount of value in a specifc label in the Clear protocol.

Epoch

On the Solana network, an epoch is a period of time that lasts about 2 days. It marks how long a specific leader schedule is valid.

Label

Private label LRT (Liquid Restaking Token) that can be permissionlessly created. All labels are backed fully by their BVL.

Liquidity

Liquidity refers to the available circulating supply of an asset that can be used or traded within a protocol

Stablecoin

A stablecoin is a type of cryptocurrency that aims to stay equal in value to a traditional fiat currency. Each stablecoin (like USDT, USDC, or USDS) uses its own method to keep its value stable, so it’s important to understand how each one works. Stablecoins are mainly used to quickly move between crypto and dollars without needing to use a bank or real fiat currency.

Total Value Locked (TVL)

TVL is a metric representing the total amount of value in a protocol.

Validators

Validators are special nodes that help keep the Solana network secure by locking up (staking) their SOL tokens and confirming transactions. They earn rewards based on how much SOL they have staked. Other users can also delegate their SOL to a validator to help them stake more—and in return, they get a share of the rewards.
